Hey ladies! I’m finally getting the time to upload much awaited DIY evening clutch / purse tutorial. Wohoooo!! This is the one I carried for Eid. And since I stayed up all night doing my Eid prep I missed the Eid prayer too. That’s the only thing I was waiting for. *sniff sniff*
Okay, moving onto the tutorial—>
Things you need:
Foam sheet (preferably a large size-half a yard would do)
Sequins
Pearls (Lots of them)
Tulle Fabric (1 yard)
Buttons/Clasps
Satin fabirc (a piece would do)
Step 1: Start off by cutting out your foam sheet according to the size you want. I wanted my clutch to be roughly the size of an A4 size paper so using the A4 size paper as a reference I drew out the lines on my sheet and cut it using a rotary cutter.
Just folded an inch from top and bottom as that was the size I wanted.
Step 2: After cutting out the sheet, make 0.5 inch boxes as shown. and add diagonal lines. And then cut along the diagonal lines.
This is how the clutch looks after cutting. Note that my clutch is lying horizontally. Step 3: To add some texture I added some tulle fabric. Cut out the tulle fabric that is twice the length of the sheet. If your length is 18 inch cut out 36 inch from the tulle fabric in length. For width add 5 inch to the number.
And then glue it onto your foam sheet.
Step 4: Hand sew from all three sides. and flip over.
This is how it looks.
Step 5: Next, draw two lines, equidistant from both sides and start sticking sequins using white glue.
Just go crazy with your imaginatin. There are lots of patterns you can try using the sequins. Add the pearls using E6000. And in the end don’t forget to lightly sew in the sequins, as they might just fall off.
Step 7: Braid the tendrils and glue them inside the clutch using the super glue E6000.
Step 7: For button, first glue a white fabric onto the flap. And then sew in the buttons. And you are DONE! Flash your new all DIY clutch at a night out with friends!!
And, here is my complete attire that I wore for Eid. DIY clutch, brooch and bracelet. 😀
So what do you think about the DIY evening clutch / purse tutorial? What would you wear with your clutch?
