Hello readers! Are you looking for gift ideas for your mom? Worry not, today I’m sharing a fairly easy DIY pillow tutorial with free template that you can download from craftsy.
At first, I thought of using red color instead of bronze for the word “love” but then I realized I didn’t have it. So, I went for bronze, hesitant at first but then I fell in love with it! Let me know what would you prefer.
How To Make DIY Pillow – Gift For Mom
Supplies:
- Fabric paints (Pink, Bronze, Black. I used pink and bronze by Dylon fabric paints and black from plaidcrafts)
- One thick and one thin brush
- 1/2 yard cotton fabric cut into 14? square
- zipper
- Sewing machine

The steps to make the pillow are very basic and simple and if you’ve been following us for a while I’m sure you would’ve memorized it by now. 😉
Directions:
Now there are two ways to do this.
1st is using the freezer paper technique. You can print out the template onto the freezer paper and then cut out the letters using an x-acto knife. Then, press the freezer paper with sticky side down onto the 14″ fabric. Using brush or foam brush paint the letters.
And second procedure is the one that I’m gonna show you now.
Step 1:
Print out the template and place it under your 14? square piece and trace out the outline using pencil.

Step 2:
Paint it! If you are unsure about painting directly, then you can use the freezer paper technique.

Step 3:
Let the fabric dry for few hours. It’s better to leave it overnight and the next day make sure to press it using an iron on medium heat. Be very careful as to not burn the fabric because I’ve done that before not once but twice ;).
Step 4
And, the final step is to sew it into a PILLOW! Tada!
