As salam alikum wa rehmatullahi wa barakatuhu.
Okay, I’m gonna be really honest and straight forward in this post so excuse me if I might sound harsh, even if I do, it is nothing compared to what we will face in the Hereafter. So bare with me. Will you?
We all know all kinds of musical instruments are strictly forbidden in Islam. If you disagree, you can search for STRONG hadeeths which strictly forbid all kinds of music instruments. And, if you still want to argue about it, then let me tell you, it’s just your inner devil playing tricks with you. Let’s not discuss nasheeds now. For me, they are totally wrong because they use guitars, flutes, pianos, this, that. And, talking about the rock, pop, rap, Gangam style, California girl and all that stuff, they are 100% forbidden, period. So, we need to stop listening to music, not just for Ramadan but InshaAllah for our entire life.
Believe it or not, I was a huge hard rock fan 5 years ago, but Alhamdulillah, Allah guided me, and now here I am, alive and much at peace than I ever had been WITHOUT music. So, take this challenge with all your heart, and InshaAllah if you take part in it truly and faithfully, you would continue with it later too. Feel the changes and peace brought about you, it’s all about feelings and taking pleasure from the RIGHT things.
Zero Songs – Take the Challenge! I’ve done it, YOU CAN DO IT TOO!
Let’s answer a few questions first:
1. Are there any benefits in listening to songs?
Duh no! If you think it relieves stress, then think again, we, Muslims have a better antidote for stress and that’s Qura’an. Music for relaxation is just crap talk fed into your head by the devil.
2. Will you lose anything if you don’t listen to songs?
Ofcource no, other than people thinking that you are weird, but take my advice and just screw what people are saying. No one, NO ONE would come for your defense on the Day of Judgement and you never know when you are gonna die. There are chances that you might not fit in with your current group of friends, but it’s okay. You shouldn’t be with people who take you away from Allah either ways. Wait a minute, that doesn’t mean you gotta boycott them completely. You can minimize the time spent with them or if you are with them, and they start talking about music and movies, you can just leave the room. I do that all the time. Or I would just start doing my stuff, like read a book or something to avoid their conversation. I also try to stay around more religious people to help me stay on the right path.
Benefits of listening to songs:
ZERO. There are no proven HEALTHY benefits of listening to songs. What we consider as benefits are just a lie, and means to take us away from the true path. Enjoyment does not mean listening to music ONLY. This is a lie and devil’s trap, and all those music festivals being held across the globe are another huge way of taking us away from the right path. The real enjoyment lies in halal things. I talk with experience.
Benefits of NOT listening to songs:
- It’s the command of Allah, and listening to Allah means better chances of entering Paradise.
- Songs take you away from Allah, so if you stop listening to songs, you would eventually become closer to Allah.
- Songs are the devil’s weapon and we all know what the devil wants.
- Giving up songs is a kind of Jihad and we all know the benefits of Jihad.
- Saves you from all the punishments of hereafter.
- Stop listening to songs and you will automatically be repelled from some of the major sins. Becoming conscious of such a small sin and protecting yourself from it will eventually strengthen your good inner voice and help you stay away from other major sins and make you do more and more good deeds.
Soooo many benefits of NOT listening to songs, so why are we still doing it when there are absolutely no benefits of listening to songs. Think! This is the time to bring the change. It’s time to fix yourself and obey Allah.
Take the challenge and improve your iman. Go zero on songs this Ramadan and the rest of days, months and years. InshaAllah you will become a better person. I’m not just bluffing, I talk with experience.
